The necessity of interdisciplinarity

This TED Talk “Michelle Borkin: Can astronomers help doctors?” provides one powerful example of the necessity of interdisciplinarity.  The problems of the world can only be fully understood and solved through interdisciplinary efforts.  We need to break through the shackles of advocating the traditions of single disciplines, especially our own.
